Hello Buzzards Bay Pickleball friends,
Ordinarily, when I post to our site, I try to be light-hearted and humorous. Today, instead, I’m relaying somber news about Karen’s biggest pickleball fan.

Karen’s mom, Pat Coyne, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday with Karen and her sister, Linda, by her bedside. It’s not often you’ll hear a son-in-law speak approvingly of his mother-in-law. I not only approved of, admired, respected, and enjoyed Pat, I loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. She lived with us for three wonderful, fun years. She was sweet, silly, fun-loving, and a beautiful singer. Our home will be very quiet and lonely without her.

At the Onset courts yesterday, Trish Newton handed me a very nice condolence card signed by many thoughtful, sweaty pickleball pals. It reads, in part, “Lean on your friends for support at this time…” We have, and we will.

Karen’s sister wrote a nice obituary that captures her mom’s spirit nicely. I share it with you here at this link.
